The PositionReporting to the Director of Information Technology, and workingclosely with the Systems Administrator, the IT Systems Engineer isresponsible for the effective and timely design, provisioning,implementation, administration/management, monitoring, and securityof hosted and local server, network, storage, voice/video and POSsystems of the College. The IT Systems Engineer will be responsiblefor enterprise-wide authentication / directory systems, includingActive Directory, single sign-on and network level authenticationsolutions and associated applications and systems. The IT SystemsEngineer is a team player with a keen eye for detail and greatproblem-solving and troubleshooting skills. The IT Systems Engineerwill participate in design meetings and consult with internalclients to design, deploy and support complex IT solutions to meetbusiness needs and may interact with third party partners in theachievement of business and technology initiatives.Work with internal and external development teams to design,develop and support integration solutions and document the designin accordance with best practices.Analyze issues and resolve system defects.Develop and maintain data integration components such as SQLqueries, stored procedures, data extraction and cleansing, andintegration with system front end components.Write SQL code to retrieve/update appropriate data as derivedfrom requirements.Build reports and/or data extracts to support businessanalysis.Facilitate system upgrades, new features and releases,enhancements, and changes.Work on enhancement projects as prioritized by the collegeCreate, maintain, and continuously improve fields, views, reports,dashboards, campaigns, workflows, and other objects and functionswithin applications.Maintain applications’ system security and integrity, includingaccount and infrastructure in response to marketing needs andworkforce changes.Monitor application storage usage and archive data asneeded.Provide user assistance and team training on applicationsthroughout the employee life cycle.Proactively gather user requirements and feedback to enhancethe user experience in applications. Work with the appropriatebusiness unit to prioritize work.Support website and marketing activities linked to applicationsby adding new components for implementation to supportcampaigns.Please see the attached job description for a full list ofessential responsibilities.QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in ComputerScience or a related technical discipline, or the equivalentcombination of education, technical training, or work experience.Must be well versed in both technology and business processperspectives.A minimum of five (5) years of experience, including focusedresponsibility for deployment and maintenance of enterprise classhardware, Microsoft server and client operating systems and relatedenterprise applications, services and protocols, includingintegrations with 3rd party COTS and custom developed applicationswithin an enterprise environment.Knowledge of standard IT concepts, best practices, policies andprocedures, including capacity management, performance and changemanagement, fault management, routine maintenance and configurationmanagement.Experience designing, implementing and managing Windows ActiveDirectory domains, sites, users, groups, policies, replicationtopology, and schema, logons scripts and profiles.Experience deploying and managing network services such asExchange, SharePoint, SQL, IIS, DNS, DHCP, RDP, VoIP, VPN, SSLcertificates, anti-virus, backup and recovery, etc.Demonstrated ability to implement and manage a variety ofstandard network architectures, topologies and protocols, includingTCP/IP, Ethernet, 802.11 wireless, 802.1X / RADIUS authentication,etc.Experience implementing and managing enterprise server hardwareincluding SAN and/or NAS storage arrays and server virtualizationsolutions (Hyper-V preferred.)Knowledge of one or more industry standard scripting languages(VB Script, Powershell, etc) and the ability to leverage thatknowledge in developing custom script solutions.Working knowledge of Linux and Mac OS systems, includinginteroperability with Windows.Ability to understand and comply with relevant departmentand/or College policies, procedures and guidelines as they pertainto data and information technology services.Demonstrated ability to analyze, effectively communicateregarding, and implement solutions for complex system problems witha sense of urgency.
