first_imgWith Metallica scheduled to play Mariano Rivera’s Farewell Ceremony on Sunday afternoon, SiriusXM hosted an invite-only, private Metallica show for lucky fans at the legendary Apollo Theater on Saturday night. Stars such as Howard Stern and crew showed up, along with OG NYC Punk Rock Legend Handsome Dick Manitoba from the Dictators, legendary Rolling Stone Writer David Fricke, comedian Jim Norton, and nightlife impresario Nur Khan.According to Gothamist writer and self-avowed Metallica fan Jim Kiernan, the band “delivered the goods and then some”, playing for two hours and fifteen minutes. James Hetfield and Co. played an eighteen song set w/ encore, that included hits such as “Master of Puppets”, “Ride the Lightning”, “One”, “Blackened”, “Enter Sandman”, and “Seek and Destroy” among others.
