The award is for the best album out of the United Kingdom and Ireland, which is voted on by musicians, executives, journalists, and other industry figures.According to the Telegraph, Blake was a 21:1 favorite, although Bowie, Disclosure, and Laura Mvula were given better odds of winning the prize. It sounds like this should be taking place in Vegas, right? Seriously though, there really were bets thrown down on the odds of which artist would win the Mercury Prize by bookies.
