first_imgLocalNews Heavy security at Roseau Magistrate’s Court by: Dominica Vibes News – June 16, 2015 Share 166 Views   no discussions Tweet Sharecenter_img Share The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force has deployed several police officers at the Roseau Magistrate’s Court as six people who were charged in connection with a protest in Salisbury appear in court this morning.Alex Howe, Hillary John, Keith Bougouneau, Peter Vanty Vidal, Gilbert Frederick and Christina Eusebe were arrested by police officers in the early hours of Thursday 11 June 2015 and charged with “riotously and tumultuously assembling to the disturbance of the public,” contrary to the Riot Act on 11 May 2015.The six, who were granted station bail last week, had to appear in Court today, Tuesday 16 June so that the charges could be formally read to them.There have been calls from other residents of Salisbury and the Leader of the Opposition, Lennox Linton for the charges to be withdrawn.Police public relations officer, Claude Weekes told Dominica Vibes on Monday 15 June; the residents were “lawfully charged” and that only the court can determine whether the charges are withdrawn.– / 9 Sharing is caring!last_img
