Mr. Skerrit, who was speaking at the National Rebuilding and Economic Partnership Consultation on Monday 26 February 2018, stated, “Over the past decade, we would have been thinking resilience in terms of our experiences. None of us would have imagined, prior to September of 2017, two category five hurricanes impacting the region in quick succession.” Mr. Skerrit went on to say that these resources can be used to achieve the goals set out by the government noting, “We can all benefit from our vision of hindsight, and I think that we are in a better position now, to not only articulate our vision to the world, but also to exploit fully the expertise and resources that have been placed at our disposal to make this all happen.” Mr. Skerrit added that since the passage of Hurricane Maria has helped Dominica to capture the attention of global entities all willing to help the country recover. “When we spoke over the past three to four years, many nodded in approval, but little meaningful assistance was forthcoming. Since hurricane Maria, I think it is fair to say that we have captured the attention and imagination of the global community,” Mr. Skerrit expounded. Sharing is caring!
